About This Cause As a registered not-for-profit organisation, our team carries out a vital mission. We aim to safeguard a major piece of Australian maritime history.

Currently, we are raising funds through our MV Wyuna Restoration Campaign. The historic pilot vessel presently sits in Tasmania. However, our primary goal is to fully restore her to seaworthy condition. As a result, she will proudly sail back to Victorian waters. Ultimately, she will serve as an active educational asset for future generations.

A Storied History Master shipbuilders constructed the MV Wyuna in 1952. She was built specifically for the Port Phillip Sea Pilots. Consequently, she served faithfully from 1953 to 1979. During these years, she operated off Queenscliff, Williamstown, and the Yarra River.

After her pilotage career ended, the vessel took on a new purpose. She joined the Australian Maritime College as a hands-on training ship. Therefore, she trained emerging seafarers until 2004.

Later, in 2013, her former owners generously transferred ownership to the organisation. This step ensured her legacy remained protected. Meanwhile, our team is restoring her hull, engine systems, and living quarters. Furthermore, we are working to honor her former crew. At the same time, we want to reintroduce this icon to the public.
